Memo AI Chat is your in-deck assistant for studying, understanding sources, and generating learning materials. It works directly with your deck content so you can go from question to output without leaving your workflow.
When to use this
Use Chat when you want to:
ask source-based questions
compare or summarize selected material
generate flashcards or mindmaps from a prompt
ask product questions that should search the Memo Help Center
request a visual explanation or diagram
Step-by-step
Open a deck that already has sources.
Make sure the sources you need are marked Ready.
In the Sources panel, select the sources you want Chat to focus on.
Open Copilot Chat.
Choose a model if you want something different from the default.
Set your output language if needed.
Ask a specific question.
Examples:
“Compare Source A and Source B on renal physiology.”
“Turn the selected sources into MCQ flashcards.”
“Create a mind map for the selected material.”
“Explain this concept with a simple diagram.”
How source selection works
The sources you check in the Sources panel become Chat’s main retrieval context.
That means:
selected sources shape the answer
unselected sources are less likely to be used
changing the selection changes what Chat can pull from
If you want to target one source more explicitly, use an @mention in your prompt when that option is available in the composer.
What Chat can do
Depending on your prompt, Chat can:
answer questions grounded in your deck sources
compare multiple selected sources
create flashcards, including MCQ-style flashcards
create mindmaps
help with Memo app questions by searching the help center
generate images for visual explanations
Models and plans
Memo-1 is the default recommendation for day-to-day use.
Other models depend on your plan. Higher plans can unlock additional Copilot models such as:
GPT-5.2
GPT-4.1
Gemini 3.0 Flash
DeepSeek V3.2
Claude Sonnet 4.6
If you do not see a model in the picker, it may not be available on your current plan.
Important notes
Source selection matters. If the wrong sources are selected, the answer may use the wrong context.
For the most reliable answers, use specific prompts instead of broad ones.
Chat and Studio share the same output-language preference.
Some actions in Chat consume energy, especially model-based generations.
FAQ
Do I need to select sources before using Chat?
Yes. For the best results, select the sources you want Chat to use first.
What does @mention do?
It helps narrow your prompt to a specific source when you want more precise grounding.
Can Chat create outputs, or is it only for Q&A?
It can do both. Chat can answer questions and also create outputs such as flashcards, MCQs, mindmaps, and images when prompted.
Why do I not see every model shown in screenshots or marketing pages?
Model availability depends on your current plan and rollout state.
